The author creates the world.
Original writing, characters, artwork and key moments give a story its identity. The creator sets the boundaries.
The AI creates the moment.
AI brings that world to life through interactive scenes and consequences, within the creator’s direction. It is a collaborator, not a replacement for the artist.
The player creates the journey.
Players choose their own actions. Their character’s decisions, thoughts and feelings belong to them, not the storyteller.
Your work stays yours
You retain the rights you hold in your original writing, characters and uploaded artwork. Playtale does not claim ownership of your intellectual property, sell your artwork, or treat an upload as permission to use it for unrelated purposes.
Making your story available gives Playtale a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, display, format and process the content needed to run its interactive experience. This includes sending relevant story text to our AI provider to generate scenes. It is not a transfer of ownership or permission to train our own AI models on your work.
Only upload work you created or have permission to use. Third-party rights still apply, and we may remove content that infringes them. Copyright protection for AI-generated output varies by jurisdiction; we do not promise ownership of every generated scene.
You can edit or unpublish your story. Unpublishing removes it from discovery, but does not automatically erase existing player sessions or records we must retain. See our privacy policy for data handling and deletion requests.
Spotlight, not appropriation
Publishing also permits limited use of your cover, excerpts and gameplay clips to promote your story and Playtale on our website and social channels. We credit the creator and, where possible, link back to the story. We do not present your work as our own.
A spotlight may come with bonus platform credits or a separately agreed cash reward. Rewards are flexible, not automatic or guaranteed; any offer will have its own clear terms. Promotional credits are for use on Playtale, not cash withdrawals.
Human creativity, recognised
Monetization approval is reserved for original human-made writing or artwork. Text-only stories can qualify too. Creators request a review, and our team examines the story settings, uploaded images and supporting evidence before approval. AI-generated source writing or artwork does not qualify under this pledge; the AI-led gameplay itself is part of the Playtale experience.
The green Verified checkmark means Playtale has approved that story for monetization under these criteria. It reflects our review, not a guarantee that every rights claim can be independently proven.
We can manually award a trusted creator badge to creators with a consistent history of genuine work, allowing their applications to be approved automatically. Approval and badges can be withdrawn if the content no longer meets our standards.
A fair future for creators
Our goal is for eligible use of purchased credits on approved stories to support their creators. Free credits have no cash value, and a creator’s own plays do not qualify for earnings.
Credit purchases and cash payouts are not live yet. The Creator hub currently shows estimates, not money available to withdraw. Future revenue sharing, verification and payout conditions will be published before launch.
