Privacy policy

• Your email address, used only to sign you in. It is never shown to other players.
• Your username, profile picture and bio, which other players can see.
• The stories you create, including text, images you upload, and publishing settings.
• Your play sessions: your character, the actions you type, and the scenes the AI writes for you.
• Your favourite stories, and your credit balance and credit history.
• A small amount of data in your browser so you stay signed in (see cookies).

Playtale writes each scene with an AI model from DeepSeek, a provider based in China. To do that, the following is sent to DeepSeek each time a scene is generated:

• Your character's name and description, as you wrote them.
• The action you typed for this turn, and a short summary of recent turns.
• The story's world, characters, chapters and story anchors, written by the story's creator.

Your email address, your real name, your account identifier and your profile picture are never sent to the AI provider. Please do not type personal details about yourself or other people into your character or your actions, since that text is transmitted as part of the story.

Legal basis: performing the contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — generating scenes is the core function you signed up for. Because the provider is outside the EU/Switzerland, this is an international transfer; it takes place only to the extent needed to produce your scene.

Story creators can also run an optional writing check on their own story text, which sends that story text to the same provider.

Accounts, stories, play sessions and uploaded images are stored with our hosting and database provider (Lovable Cloud, running on Supabase infrastructure). Uploaded images sit in private storage and are only ever served through short-lived private links.

Your account data and stories are kept until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Play sessions are kept so you can continue a story. Credit history is kept for accounting purposes for up to 10 years, as required by law.

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, restrict or object to its processing, or have your account and content deleted. Editing your profile changes your data instantly; for a copy or a deletion, write to u231lols@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your national data protection authority.

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and show a notice on the site.
